Vionnet celebrates 100 years with a film by Alessandro Possati

FASHION
In celebration of its 100-year anniversary, Vionnet has released a short film that pays homage to modern dance pioneer Isadora Duncan, a contemporary of Madeleine Vionnet in 1920s Paris. Directed by Italian filmmaker Alessandro Possati, the clip is set to an original score by preeminent young Ecuadorian composer José Miguel Maschietto and brings the label’s S/S 2013 collection to life in an emotional dance sequence choreographed by Jakob Sekuba. Featuring four ballerinas from the National Theatre in Prague, the sensual performance – premiered at the French brand’s anniversary dinner in Paris on Sunday – is an interpretation of Duncan’s own unrestrained style. It fluidly exhibits Vionnet’s signature bias cut and drape too, all the while highlighting the spirit and elegance of the much-lauded brand.
